The Foundation Endeleo Foundation has oriented itself in 2014 on a new project. The focus here was on the situation of older people in developing countries. Older people often live in appalling conditions, because they do not receive support from relatives or children. The lack of this support is often related to the high mortality from diseases such as AIDS and malaria. Although in recent years a significant decrease occurred in the mortality rate, the effects of previous years are still felt. Facilities for the elderly, for example in the form of a retirement home, are unlike in most developing countries unknown.
The Endeleo Foundation wants to focus in 2015 on the Sengerema project in Tanzania. It concerns the construction of a health center where people who are too healthy for hospitalization, but need medical assistance. Now these people stay unnecessarily in hospital or they sit at home without adequate care.
With the advent of this center the local hospital will be greatly relieved. The people who work in the health center, are often retired and ask a small contribution for their work for , so that it remains affordable for those who need help. There is a (local) foundation set up with responsibility for execution and daily business (Nyampulukano Elderly Group). The project is widely supported locally .
The planning of the project is already at an advanced stage, and consists of three parts. The project will be implemented in several phases. Endeleo Foundation is considering financing a defined part of the project and to cooperate in the implementation. If agreed upon this will start in mid-2015.
